Femme Fatale is a brand that promotes the resurgence of the Riot Grrrl movement. Riot Grrrl is an underground feminist punk movement that began during the early 1990s and was spearheaded by bands such as Bikini Kill and Bratmobile. It combines feminism, punk music, and politics, and most importantly was a way in which women could express anger, rage, and frustration— emotions considered only socially acceptable for male musicians and artists.
Though popularity of the movement has died down since, the Riot Grrrl identity begun to creep its way back to the forefront of many all-girl punk bands, partly due to the relevance of contemporary feminist movements such as Me Too and TIME’S UP.
